8Never The Machine Forever
When Seattle's final rock history is written, the Edgewater's place is every bit as assured as those of Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix. It is a matter of record that the life of the touring rock star has two different sides to it. There are on the one hand the bright lights of the stage, the glitz and the glamour, the radio interviews, and the certain rush of thousands of adoring fans. And then ...

11Dusty
To celebrate 55 years on the throne marks the durability of a singular public institution: the State, but to celebrate a 60th Wedding Anniversary as Elizabeth and Philip do today [20Nov] marks the durability of an institution that sovereign and subject share and as Walter Bagehot in his 1867 English Constitution notes a royal marriage unites the nation in a common endeavour.

14Applebite
WinterFest in downtown Cleveland celebrates the season (or attempts to restore some vestige of class to the human race the day after the year's busiest shopping orgy) with all-day events, gathered like visions of sugarplums around Public Square and Tower City, from about 10 a.m. There's a Kringle toy shop and Christmas Corner on the Avenue, a Santa luncheon (punk haircuts for the little ones!) ...
